psychobiotic

🔬 India's first peer-reviewed psychobiotic · WHO-GMP · ISO 13485 · 35 Bn CFU | 12 clinical strains
Psychobiotic · Gut-Brain Axis Formula

A psychobiotic engineered for the gut-brain axis — Not a rebranded probiotic.

MindFlora is a synbiotic — 12 clinical psychobiotic strains + prebiotic inulin + Vitamin D — formulated on peer-reviewed research to modulate the 4 pathways connecting gut to brain: vagus nerve, HPA cortisol axis, immune signalling, and neurotransmitter production. Every strain has published RCT evidence. Every dose is disclosed. Made in India to medical-device-grade standards.

What is a psychobiotic?

Clinical Definition
psy·cho·bi·o·tic
/ˌsaɪkəʊbaɪˈɒtɪk/ · noun

"A live microorganism that, when ingested in adequate amounts, confers a mental health benefit — via modulation of the gut-brain axis, neurotransmitter production, HPA-axis regulation, or neuroinflammatory pathways."

MindFlora is not a general probiotic that happens to help mood. Every one of its 12 strains was selected on the basis of published psychobiotic evidence — for a specific mechanism in the gut-brain axis. That is what "psychobiotic" means as a clinical category.

— The Gut-Brain Axis —

Your gut is your second brain. Here's the biology.

The gastrointestinal tract contains approximately 500 million neurons — more than the entire spinal cord (Furness, 2012). It communicates bidirectionally with the central nervous system via 4 documented pathways. MindFlora is engineered around all four.

500 M
neurons in the gut — the enteric nervous system, or "second brain"
~80%
of vagus nerve signals travel gut → brain, not the reverse
~95%
of body's serotonin is synthesised in the gut
4
gut-brain pathways — every one addressed by MindFlora
Pathway 01
Vagus Nerve
The physical fibre-optic cable from gut to brainstem. Bacteria producing SCFAs and neurotransmitter precursors signal directly via the vagus.
Pathway 02
HPA Cortisol Axis
Gut microbes regulate hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal signalling — the mechanism behind chronic stress, anxiety, cortisol dysregulation.
Pathway 03
Immune Signalling
70% of your immune system lives in gut-associated lymphoid tissue. Probiotic strains modulate cytokines, IgA, NK cells.
Pathway 04
Neurotransmitter Production
Gut produces ~95% of serotonin, substantial GABA, and BDNF precursors — directly modulating mood, focus, sleep.

Inulin
50 mg · fructooligosaccharide fibre

+ Vitamin D
Cholecalciferol
600 IU · 100% RDA
70%+ of urban Indian adults are deficient (NFHS 2019–21). Vitamin D receptors are expressed throughout the brain — hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, cingulate gyrus — and regulate BDNF, NGF, and neuroinflammatory cytokines. Low D independently associated with depression + cognitive impairment.

— The Verdict —

Per live bacterium reaching your gut, MindFlora delivers 10–42× more than a ₹300 shelf probiotic.

Cheap on the label ≠ cheap in your gut. And no shelf probiotic addresses the gut-brain axis at all.

— The 6 Things That Make It Unique —

What separates MindFlora from everything else on the shelf.

01
Synbiotic — not a probiotic
12 clinical strains + Inulin 50mg (fuel) + Vitamin D 600 IU (co-factor). Standard probiotics contain none of the last two.
02
Every combination is an RCT, not a blend
The L. helveticus R0052 + B. longum R0175 + L. plantarum R1012 triad is the exact NCT03615651 fMRI trial combination.
03
Spore-forming acid-resistance
Bacillus coagulans endospores survive stomach acid (pH 1.5–3.5), germinate in intestine, produce butyrate. Real strain-level survival.
04
ISO 13485 medical-device grade
Fermedicius Labs holds the standard for medical device manufacturing — not just food-grade GMP.
05
Full strain nomenclature disclosed
R0052 · R0175 · BC99 · PBS072 · BB077 · HN001 · HN019 — you can trace every strain to its published human trial.
06
Formulated on the gut-brain axis
Targets all 4 pathways: vagus nerve, HPA axis, immune, neurotransmitter. No other Indian probiotic does this.

— Scientific FAQ —

Everything you'd want to ask the formulator.

What technically makes MindFlora a "psychobiotic" and not a probiotic?
A psychobiotic is a strict clinical category — defined as "a live microorganism that, when ingested in adequate amounts, confers a mental health benefit" via gut-brain axis modulation. General probiotics target digestive symptoms; psychobiotics target neurotransmitter production, HPA-axis regulation, or neuroinflammatory pathways. Every one of MindFlora's 12 strains was selected on the basis of published psychobiotic RCT evidence for its specific mechanism.Dinan, Stanton & Cryan (2013) · standardised Cryan et al. Nature Rev Neuroscience 2019
What is the difference between a probiotic and a synbiotic?
A probiotic is just live bacteria. A synbiotic is probiotic + prebiotic (fibre that selectively feeds those bacteria) + often a bioactive vitamin. MindFlora combines: 12 probiotic strains + Inulin 50mg (prebiotic) + Vitamin D 600 IU. The prebiotic ensures colonisation is sustained; the Vitamin D corrects the co-prevalent deficit (70%+ of Indian adults). Standard probiotics have neither.MindFlora Scientific Reference §4
Why does strain identity (e.g. "R0052") matter?
Because strain — not species — determines clinical effect. Two "L. helveticus" strains can have completely different mechanisms. R0052 is the strain with the documented cortisol-reduction data. R0175 is the strain in the NCT03615651 fMRI trial. Generic "Lactobacillus helveticus" gives no proof either strain is present. MindFlora discloses strain-level nomenclature so every claim traces to its trial.Full strain reference: MindFlora §3
What is "acid resistance" and how do you achieve 90% survival?
Standard capsules dissolve in stomach acid, killing 80–90% of bacteria before they reach the intestine. MindFlora uses two protections: (1) DRcaps® delayed-release capsules that dissolve only in the small intestine, and (2) Bacillus coagulans BC99 — a spore-forming strain whose endospores survive gastric pH 1.5–3.5 and germinate only in the intestine. Combined: ~90%+ of the 35 Bn CFU reaches the gut alive.PMC12525987 · Weizmannia coagulans BC99 RCT · NCT06629441 · 2025
Why 12 strains rather than 1 or 50?
Each of the 12 was chosen for a specific mechanism in the gut-brain axis — from serotonin production (L. reuteri PBS072, B. breve BB077) to cortisol reduction (L. helveticus R0052 + B. longum R0175) to gut barrier repair (B. bifidum). Some brands stack 30–50 strains as marketing, but many have overlapping or unstudied mechanisms. Every strain in MindFlora has published human trial evidence for its target — earning its place in the formula.MindFlora §3 · 12 strain-by-strain analyses
What does "ISO 13485" mean for a probiotic?
ISO 13485 is the international standard for the design and manufacture of medical devices. Most probiotic brands in India are made in food-grade GMP facilities. MindFlora is manufactured at Fermedicius Labs, Bengaluru — one of the few Indian facilities certified to WHO-GMP · ISO 22000 · ISO 13485 · FDA · FSSAI. Third-party batch testing. CFU guaranteed at expiry, not just manufacture.Fermedicius Labs Pvt Ltd · FSSAI Lic. 11525998000078
How and when should I take it?
Take 1 capsule daily, 30 minutes before breakfast — this allows the acid-resistant capsule to transit the stomach before peak acid production. Consistency matters more than exact timing — same time each day. No refrigeration required (shelf-stable in Indian climate). Safe for long-term daily use. In the first 5–7 days, some experience mild gas (die-off response) — this passes.
Bloating usually eases in 10–14 days. When do the deeper effects appear?
Day 10–14: bloat + gas reduce. Week 2–3: first cognitive clarity. Week 4–6: cortisol regulation + sleep improvements. Day 60–90: full microbiome reset — the benefits become baseline, not peaks. The 30-day pack is ideal for testing whether MindFlora works for you. For sustained results, 60–90 days of consistent use is the doctor-recommended protocol.
What if it doesn't work for me?
30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. If you use MindFlora consistently for 30 days and see no improvement, contact us for a full refund. Individual response varies — some see effects earlier, some need the full 90-day protocol for the microbiome to fully reset.
